Number on the List - 20 and 21 Sydney Quaife and Walter Quaife
Summary of Mr. Lockwood's reports upon Children Boarded-out under the care of the Millbrook Boarding-out Committee.
REMARKS
Walter Quaife was at the time of the inspector's visit away working. Sidney, who stammers badly, stated that he is in the Sixth Standard, and his brother in the Fifth. The inspector adds, "Sidney certainly does credit to his faster parents. He appears to be employed at the rectory in cleaning knives, etc., but did not seem to know very clearly what were his earnings, though he said they were placed in the bank for him. Possibly his stammering would be a bar to some employments; but the boy of his age and apparent intelligence should be very nearly able to maintain himself". The brothers sleep in a good sized room, which was clean and well ordered. Foster father is a gardener; mother takes in washing.
