8. PUBLIC OFFICE, QUEEN SQUARE.
An account of the number of boys apprenticed to chimney sweepers under the provision of the Act of the 28 Geo.3,c.40. at the Public Office, Queen Square, during the last 20 years.

As to the other particulars no account can be given (there being no entry kept thereof,) further than that we have every reason to believe that the respective apprentices were bound in strict conformity with the Act of Parliament, viz. being of 8 years of age or upwards, until they attained 16 years. And as to the evidence of the age, it is uniformly taken from a copy of the Register, where the same can be had; if not, from the oath of the parent.
