JOHN LAWRENCE SULLIVAN
My insatiable appetite for tracing my Irish ancestors has taken me down many avenues which inevitably lead to the dreaded 'brick wall' a prime example of this was when my cousin reminded me of Grandmother telling her children that she was a distant cousin of the great man himself. Grandmother, Elizabeth Beirne (later Byrne) was a well educated lady and I did not think that it was another of the 'family tales' which, travelling down the generations had got blown out of all proportions and distorted beyond recognition (and believe me I have had a few of those come to light during my family tree research) and I hoped that this could be my big break, - a 'back door', so to speak, to tracing my ancestors. Five years later, it is needless to say I have not made the connection too date, but I have gathered quite a lot of information along the way which I considered my be of use to some other researcher.
