Certified 7th August 1871 when at Byfleet.  The school was placed under the control of the Surrey county magistrates on 1st November 1884.  The former managers resigned their certificate, and the county authorities agreed to carry on the school as from 1st November1884.

Re-certified at Mayford 30th August 1887 for 180 boys, 1916 for 195, and later 210 and in 1924 for 150 boys.  Became WOKING LONDON COUNTY COUNCIL APPROVED SCHOOL for 150 boys from 1933.

This institution for destitute boys was established at Wandsworth in 1867 and removed to Byfleet Corner in 1871 and to its present site in August 1887; the total cost of the new building was about £16,000 the site comprises 27 acres and in the School there are about 180 boys who are employed upon the Land, Tailoring, Shoemaking, Carpentering and in other useful occupations.

1884 - Superintendent and matron, Mr & Mrs A. Wells; schoolmaster Mr Grounsell.

1891 - Superintendent and matron, Mr & Mrs Ridpath; school masters Mr Willgosse and Mr Groundsell.

1893 - Superintendent and matron, Mr & Mrs Ridpath; school master Mr Todd; assistant schoolmaster Mr Grounsell.

1900 - Superintendent and matron, Mr & Mrs Ridpath; school masters Messrs. A.W. Legg, W. Curwen, W.J. Grounsel and I Ellis; Mr J.H. Gardner was appointed clerk of the school and storekeeper, 1st April.  Clerk Mr Moon; Chaplain Rev. F.J. Oliphant calls 3 times a week.

1903 - Superintendent and matron, Mr & Mrs W. Ridpath; Mr A.W. Long the schoolmaster left 8th April and was succeeded by the assistant teacher Mr J.H. Leech 29th April and Mr H.H.W. Brice came 14th February 1903
